Course Overview

This course is designed for Care and Support staff in various settings, including Housing Support Teams providing direct care. It aims to enhance learners' understanding of dementia, including its causes, associated risk factors, and the importance of using a person-centred approach. 


The course also examines how the behaviours and attitudes of others can impact individuals living with dementia, helping learners to adopt more empathetic and supportive practices.


The training is delivered through a combination of methods, including:


  • Face-to-face tutor-led sessions
  • Group work and scenario-based exercises
  • Group participation and questioning
  • PCP tools
  • End-of-session assessments

This course is aligned with current occupational standards, qualification frameworks, and the Dementia Core Skills: Education and Training Framework.
