Basic Life Support

Course Overview
This Basic Life Support course is designed for Care and Support staff in various settings, as well as Housing Support Teams who provide direct care and support.
The course equips learners with essential skills and knowledge to respond effectively in emergencies, offering lifesaving assistance until further help arrives.
The training is delivered through a combination of methods, including:
- Face-to-face tutor-led sessions
- Group scenarios and discussions
- Interactive videos
- Practical demonstrations
- Hands-on practice with a manikin
The course is aligned with current occupational standards, qualification frameworks, and is developed in accordance with the Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines.

Course Content:
- Principles of DNACPR
- CPR and AED usage
- Managing a casualty who is not breathing
- Managing a choking casualty
- The 3 ‘P’s for a first aider
- Accident reporting

- Explain the principles of DNACPR
- List the 3 ‘P’s of first aid
- Demonstrate how to manage a casualty who is not breathing
- Perform CPR and correctly use an AED
- Demonstrate how to manage a choking casualty
- Describe the information needed to complete an accident report
